My name is Amy Reinink. I’m an award-winning writer based in Silver Spring, Md., just outside Washington, D.C., whose work has appeared in a wide variety of national and regional newspapers, magazines and other publications, including The Washington Post, Entrepreneur, Running Times, Women’s Running and The Center for Public Integrity. I’m also a middle-of-the-pack marathon runner who covers the Washington-area running community as the DC Running Examiner.
Before moving to the Washington area as a freelance writer in October 2008, I spent six years mining rural Florida and Maryland for everything from breaking-news stories to Sunday narratives for daily newspapers. I’ve covered hurricanes, wildfires, elections, murder trials, municipal government, business news, national championship games and small-town festivals, all with equal aplomb.
I live in a revamped Canada Dry bottling plant in Silver Spring, Md., with my husband, Steve. We enjoy running in Rock Creek Park, camping in Shenandoah National Park and skiing at Whitetail Resort, where we’re members of the Mountain Safety Team.
About my blog: I’m not a running coach, or a sports nutritionist. I’m just a middle-of-the-pack marathon runner who spends an inordinate amount of time searching for the best training plans, cross-training tips, pre- and post-run eats, playlists, motivational stories and, of course, new races to run. Because I’m awfully nice, I’m sharing them with you here. I am in no way certified to provide this advice. I’m just a fellow runner who’s eager to share her tips and tricks for training, and even more eager to hear your tips and tricks, too. I share tips on Twitter, too.
